Case Study

TikTok is the Next Big Thing!

The Chinese giant Bytedance ltd is internet technology company that owns the fastest growing platform in the world TikTok. In this article, we will understand how TikTok may overtake Instagram by 2022.

All over the world, TikTok has gained so much attention that it has become the fastest platform on the internet to teach 1 billion users!

Yes, that’s right.

Before getting into the main topic, let me tell you what is TikTok.

TikTok is a platform where people can share videos up to 60 seconds in a vertical format. We can also combine multiple photos and create and upload slideshow based videos. Earlier, this app was known as Musically.

The platform offers amazing features on filtering, styles, background music, effects, stickers, gifs and many other things.

Such features now have become so popular that Facebook has been slowly integrating such advanced technology on Instagram.

February 2018, I had written an article related to TikTok Case Study and predicted that it is going to boom.

7 Reasons Why TikTok May Overtake Instagram by 2022:

1. Instagram Organic:

Those who have business accounts on Instagram have been seeing lower organic reach.

For the last six months, the organic growth is constantly going down as Instagram has been changing their algorithms.

2. Baby Boomers vs Millennials:

It is being observed that the majority of millennials love Instagram because it suits their interest and on the other hand, they don’t prefer TikTok very much.

Baby Boomers prefer TikTok more against Instagram. They tend to watch more videos on TikTok compare to photos and videos on Instagram.

Hence, the number of baby boomer will certainly increase and there would be great growth potential for TikTok.

3. Facebook Rushing for Money:

That’s right.

Facebook wants big money from not only Facebook but also from Instagram. And that’s the primary reason for lowering down the organic reach.

In order to grow a business or personal brand on Instagram and Facebook, we need to pay money for an advertisement to Facebook. That’s how the company has been making billions from ad revenue.

4. TikTok and Entertainment:

You may have received comedy and entertaining videos on WhatsApp. And guess what, most of the videos are coming from TikTok.

Currently, the people who want to watch only entertaining content prefer TikTok only. Entertainment and comedy are two of the most popular category for video content.

Because of this reason, TikTok India user base grew 65%.

5. Demand of Micro-Content:

Instagram TV wasn’t a huge success for Facebook. Earlier, we could not upload a video that has more than 60 seconds of duration. This thing simply made people love micro-content.

Because of this reason, most of the people use Instagram quickly for viewing the content.

As mentioned earlier, TikTok enables the facility to upload less than 60 seconds of vertical video. In Instagram, we can upload multiple photos and videos but TikTok is the only platform for micro-video.

6. EduTok:

Bytedance wants to make revolutionary facility for educational content on TikTok.

Surprisingly, TikTok users are loving the concept of Edutok. The educational videos with less than one-minute duration have been getting thousands of views in less than 24 hours!

In adding to that, the company has invested millions of dollars to grab attention in the field of education.

Therefore, educational content creators in Youtube have been also publishing their 1 minute content on TikTok. The best part about EduTok is organic growth. The organic growth of educational content in TikTok is so high that content creators have been leveraging TikTok often.

Having said that, the number of followers also increases rapidly.

7. Musical.ly is No More:

The re-branding has played a big role in the remarkable growth. TikTok, formerly known as Musical.ly focused on music, entertainment and comedy. The name Musical.ly suggested that people who love music, dance or entertainment related stuff should download the app.

Now, things have been changed. Today, the application is used to storytelling, education, art and craft and many other things.
